Obituary of John B. Smith

John B. Smith Sr., 79 - John B.Smith Sr. of West Orange died peacefully early Sunday morning August 21, 2011 at his daughters residence in Madison, NJ. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday August 24, 2011 at 8:30 AM at The Dangler Funeral Home 340 Main Street West Orange, NJ. The funeral mass will be 9:30 AM at Our Lady of Lourdes Church 1 Eagle Rock Avenue West Orange. Entombment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery East Hanover. Visiting hours will be Tuesday 2-4 & 7-9 PM. Mr. Smith was born in Orange living in South Orange and Summit before moving to West Orange in1960. John proudly served in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict. John worked as a plant manager for Wayne Coffee Company in East Orange for 45 years. John was the Past Grand Knight of the West Orange Knights of Columbus Council # 5519, The Fourth Degree Archbishop Bayley Assembly 0660. The Recipient of the Marnell Award in 2010, a member of the Holy Name Society, An Usher, and a Bingo caller all at Our Lady of Lourdes Church. The family would appreciate donations in his name to Our Lady Of Lourdes Church 1 Eagle Rock Avenue West Orange, NJ 07052. John was the beloved husband of the late Patricia Ann Smith (Patsy) nee O'Connor. Devoted father of Sharon Hintz and her husband Carl, Kathleen Loria and her husband Paul, Colleen Geier and her husband Buddy, Jeanne Smith and her companion Jim Kerrigan and the late John B. Smith Jr. Loving brother of Tom and his wife Terri, Noreen DeGroot and her husband Charlie, Barbara Romano and her husband Joe, Paul and his wife Edith, Eileen Maiello and her husband Joe, Donald and his wife Veronica, Nancy Faulkner and her husband Tom, James and his wife Maureen and the late Lewis. Cherished grandfather of Erica and Michael Hintz, Lauren, Shannon, and Allison Charlton, Tara, Brendan and John Geier. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
