Obituary of James Hodgson Friar

James Hodgson Friar, 69 - James H. Friar of Short Hills passed away on Saturday June 18, 2011 at Overlook Hospital in Summit. A memorial service will be held on Thursday June 23, 2011 at the Racquets Club of Short Hills, 162 Hobart Avenue Short Hills NJ 07078 from 5 to 7 PM. Arrangements are by The Dangler Funeral Home of West Orange. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in James name to the Millburn Short Hills 1st Aid Squad, 188 Glen Avenue, Millburn, NJ 07041 or the NJ Sharing Network, 691 Central Avenue, New Providence, NJ 07974. Mr. Friar was born and raised in Fall River, MA and lived in New York City before moving to Short Hills 30 years ago. He also held a residence in North River, NY. He was a Certified Financial Analyst working for J.P. Turner in Red Bank for 41 years. Mr. Friar was a member of the Humanitas Lodge #1123, the F. & A. M. of New York and the Racquets Club of Short Hills. Mr. Friar was the beloved husband of Jane Derickson -Friar. Devoted father of Eliza Friar. Loving brother of William. W. He is also survived by 9 nieces and nephews.
