Obituary of Jean C. Bowman

Jean C. Bowman, 96 Jean C. Bowman, 96, of Richmond VA, formerly of West Orange, went to her heavenly home on August 10, 2016. She was born on July 29, 1920 in New York City to William B. and Jessie W. Curtiss. In 1925, she and her parents moved to West Orange where she resided until moving to Richmond in 2000. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 57 years, George Bowman. As a child, Jean studied at "Miss Warner's School of Elocution and Dramatics" and appeared in many stage and radio programs, including broadcasting as the original "Baby Twinkle Star" in the early 1920's. She attended West Orange High School and graduated from Drake Business College. Jean was an active member of First Presbyterian Church in Orange for over 60 years where she also taught Sunday school. Jean is survived by her loving daughter, Nancy Bowman Jamer and her two beloved grandchildren, Heather Jamer and Matthew Jamer, Jr., all of Midlothian VA. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews and many dear friends. Jean was a faithful servant of Christ, a compassionate and loyal friend, and a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. A memorial service to celebrate Jean's life will be held at 11:30 am on Thursday, August 18 at Dangler Funeral Home, 430 Main St, West Orange; visitation begins at 10:30.
