Obituary of Daniel Joseph Anderton
Daniel J. Anderton, 85
Daniel J. Anderton, 85, of West Orange passed away on Tuesday June 7, 2016 surrounded by his loving family.
Visitation will be held at the Dangler Funeral Home of West Orange, 340 Main Street in West Orange on Thursday June 9, 2016 from 4-9 PM. A Funeral Mass will take place on Friday June 10, 2016 at Saint Joseph's Church 44 Benvenue Avenue in West Orange at 10:00AM. Entombment will follow at Gate of Heaven Mausoleum 225 Ridgedale Avenue East Hanover, NJ. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Daniel's name to Saint Joseph's Church.
Daniel was born in Harrison, living in Kearny before moving to West Orange in 1974. He was a terrific athlete and a standout at Kearny High School in soccer, basketball and baseball. Daniel was a proud member of the United States Army from 1950 to 1954. He served in the infantry and in the Military Police during the Korean Conflict where he received The Army Of Occupation Medal (Germany), Korean Service Medal with 5 Bronze Service Stars, Combat Infantry Badge and The United Nations Service Medal. Daniel was a barber and owned the Bali Hai Barber Shop in Parlin. He later was employed as a Security Guard working at the US Army Base at Caven Point, Jersey City for many years.
Daniel was a parishioner of Saint Joseph's Church for many years, an avid tennis player, a past member of the East Orange Tennis Club and the West Orange Racquet Club, as well as being a volunteer with the NJ State Opera.
Daniel was the beloved husband of Wanda (nee Porzycki) Anderton married32 years, and the late Clara Marzano and Anna Marie Stoicovy. Devoted father of Diana Anderton Milian and her husband Edward, Sal Michael Anderton and his wife Rose and the late Daniel J. Anderton III. Cherished grandfather of Daniel IV, Sean, Samantha, Christian, and Justin.
