Obituary of Joanne Marie Garifo

Joanne Marie Garifo, 64 Joanne Marie Garifo, (nee Diveny), 64, of West Orange passed away on Tuesday, February 16, 2016. Visiting will be held on Saturday, February 20, 2016 from 9:30 to 11:00 AM followed by an 11:30 AM Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 1 Eagle Rock Ave., in West Orange. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Joanne's name to: Community Food Bank of NJ, 31 Terminal Road, Hillside, NJ 07205. Joanne was born in Montclair and was a lifelong resident of West Orange. Graduating with a BA in Education from Seton Hall University, she was a Systems Analyst working for Prudential Financial in Roseland. Prior to that she worked at Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of NJ. Joanne was a veracious reader who would read more than one book a week. She loved sitting in the sun on her front porch with a glass of white wine, and vacationing at Wrightsville Beach, NC, where she could relax under an umbrella and enjoy the sight and sounds of the ocean. She was very proud of her sons and eagerly looked forward to becoming a "Grammie". Joanne was the beloved wife of 35 years of Joe Garifo. Cherished daughter of the late John and Anne Marie Diveny. Devoted mother of Matthew and his wife Erin, Kevin and the late Anthony "AJ". Loving sister of Br. Paul Diveny, O.S.B., Mary Diveny Loftus and her late husband Patrick, Theresa Dempsey and her husband Ray, and Carol Crate and her husband Robert. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, Aunts, Uncles and cousins.
