Obituary of Joseph Gallardo

Father Joseph James Gallardo, OAR, 56 Father Joseph James Gallardo, 56, OAR, of West Orange, NJ passed away suddenly on Monday January 25, 2016. Father Joseph was born on February 12, 1959 in Los Angeles, California. He entered the Novitiate of the Order of Augustinian Recollects in Navarra, Spain, on August 28, 1989. He made his simple profession on September 1, 1990 in Navarra, Spain; Solemn Profession in Suffern, New York, on August 28, 1993. He was ordained a priest in Santa Ana, California, on October 1, 1994. He served as a priest in various parishes in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, and in 2009, he was elected as the Prior Provincial of Saint Augustine Province, Order of Augustinian Recollects, a position he held until his sudden death. Father Joseph was the devoted son of Joseph and the late Maria Elena Gallardo. Loving brother of Deborah Gallardo, Evette Carsten, Yolanda Ciauri, and the late Phillip Gallardo. He is also survived by 7 nephews, 1 niece and 1 grandniece.
