Obituary of Raymond M. Hicks

Raymond M. Hicks, Jr., 87 - Raymond M. Hicks, Jr. of Livngston died on Monday July 5, 2010 at the West Caldwell Care Center. Funeral Services will be private, arrangements are by The Dangler Funeral Home of West Orange, 340 Main Street, West Orange. Letters of condolence may be posted at danglerfuneralhome.com. Mr. Hicks was born in Washington, D.C. on Jan. 27, 1923 and lived in Livingston since 1949. He graduated form Dartmouth College in 1948 with a BA in Economics. His college years were interrupted by his service in the United States Army, attaining the rank of First Lieutenant during WW II. Mr. Hicks retired from his position as Claims Manager of the American Hull Insurance Syndicate, NYC, in 1989. He held many other positions on several Boards of Directors, and also taught courses at the College of Insurance, The School of World Trade and the World Trade Institute. He was an accomplished and well respected member of the marine insurance industry. Mr. Hicks was predeceased by his first wife, Cecilia in 1977. He is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Sylvia, son Raymond M. Hicks, III and his wife Marcelia, and daughter Maria Hicks Babcock and her husband Kurt, and his grandson Raymond M. Hicks, IV. He also is survived by his step-children, Sandra Percoskie, Lauren Ruggiero and Robert Harrington and their families. He had several step-grandchildren and great grand-children.
