Obituary of Philip Joseph McElroy

Philip Joseph McElroy III, 86 Philip J. McElroy III, 86, of York Pa, formerly of West Orange, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, January 10, 2015 , at his home. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, January 15, 2015 at The Dangler Funeral Home of West Orange, 340 Main Street in West Orange at 8:30AM. Then to Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 1 Eagle Rock Ave. West Orange for the Funeral Mass at 9:30 AM. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 225 Ridgedale Ave. in East Hanover. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4-8 PM. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Philip's name to: Camp Moore, c/o West Orange Elks, 424 Main Street, West Orange, NJ 07052. Philip was born in Orange and raised in Newark before living in West Orange for many years before moving to York, Pa. 20 years ago. He worked as a steamfitter for Steamfitter's Local 475 in Warren for 45 years before retiring in 1993. Philip was a member of the Steamfitters Local 475, was a lifetime member of the West Orange Elks B.P.O.E. 1590, where he also served as the Exalted Ruler, Knights of Columbus of Livingston Council # 3533, Antique truck Club of America, and the Antique Automobile Club of America. Philip was the beloved husband of Marie McElroy (nee Fenner), and the late Margaret McElroy (nee Raftery, 1971). Devoted father of Mary Eileen Hurne, Philip J. McElroy IV, Theresa Ann Smith, John K. McElroy, Timothy A. McElroy, Patrick J. McElroy, Mary M. Hazel, Brian R. McElroy, Wayne Fenner, Diane Cuccolo, Bonnie Politte, Guy Faull, and Dawn Earley. He is predeceased by 2 brothers, 3 sisters and his granddaughter Sarah. Cherished grandfather of 34 and 20 great grandchildren. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
