I knew Brian back in the early 90s and he was one of the funniest, nicest, and most caring individuals I’ve ever known.
I’m only sorry that I found out so late that he had serious health issues and worse still, that he
had passed away. To his family, please know that Brian will always be there for you and will always watch over you.
That’s the kind of guy he was. I will light a candle at my church for him tomorrow.
“Sleep, sleep tonight
And may your dreams be realized.”
U2, “MLK”
Godspeed, my old friend. My heart is hurting tonight.

Such a loss, and my condolences to Brian's family and friends. I knew Brian at Frost Valley, and he always seemed the model of exuberance--energetic, enthusiastic, and putting his all into his experiences as a camper and role as a counselor. Sad loss for all.

I liked Brian from the first moment I met him. I think everyone did. He had a warmth and shine to him that lit up any room he was in. He’d captivate you with a great story or make a boring story sound exciting because he told it so well. His love for people, food, and life was contagious. I’ve never met anyone like him that could so effortlessly vibe with everyone. My heart goes out to his family and friends. I miss you Brian. I’m thankful to have had you in my life. Rest well buddy.

So blown away to read this. Kind man with a huge heart. I wont ever forget the endless drives in his huge truck looking for new wireless stores and Metro locations. Ive never eaten so good and laughed with someone so much. My condolences for your loss. He will be missed.
Regards,

Sending prayers and strength to Brian's family and friends today and always. Brian's spirit was contagious and I will treasure the high school memories that all stemmed from our Lourdes Bingo days together! Rest in Peace.

Brian was one year ahead of me at Our Lady of Lourdes and Seton Hall Prep. I wouldn't have considered us very close but definitely friendly. To this day I vividly remember a bully was picking on me at Seton Happ Prep, I was cornered in the bathroom and was about to be beat up by 3 older kids. Brain found out about it and came running into the bathroom to protect me. He made it very clear I was not to be touched. I can still see that moment and makes me smile.
Needless to say, I would not have fared well in that particular situation. Brian saved me that day but more importantly showed me what a good person does even when it is not their fight. In the future I grew and witnessed others being bullied. I feel because of Brian's example I too also knew I had to react. Thanks for the inspiration and leadership.
Rest in peace brother and God Bless - Billy Coughlan

Brian was just the man. Such a character & always fun & warm. When I was like 7 years old at Frost Valley, we had ‘holdover weekend’ between sessions. So all the younger and older kids got Herded (letsgohird) into 1 village & I got to hang with Brian, the biggest of the ‘Big Boys’, that was a real coming of age feeling. We went to Devils Hole & I always remember Brian & hearing ‘Smoke on the Water’ by Deep Purple. Kind of a dangerous but exciting vibe. That’s one of my first memories of camp, growing up & Brian Butler was almost the North Star, for so many of us.
I love you Brian, I know heaven is going to be alot more fun from now on! Peace out big guy

Brian was my counselor at Frost Valley. I was a dialysis camper, and that came with special needs including having to be at dialysis at 7:00am 3 days a week, as well as managing medications and diet. Brian was a pro. Even when I felt sluggish after dialysis, which was often, Brian created a system when he saw I was being left behind by the rest of the group during walks. He tied a string to his backpack and said, "anytime you're feeling behind, tug on that string and we will stop and wait. Nobody in my group gets left behind!" He was always great at helping me feel included and part of the group; just like the other kids in camp. I will always cherish that memory!
