Nick
I am so sorry to hear of your passing. You helped me so much when I played with you for the South Orange Colts in 1969 and 70. You were one of the stars of the team but you took me (as just a reserve and mediocre player) under your wing.
I imagine that oyu are speaking with Tony, and "T" Candelmo in Heaven about baseball. Some of my fondest memories as a baseball player involve you
Love always dear friend

I was privileged to know Nick and coached with him for many years.. He had a passion for baseball and always taught his kids how to play the game the right way and he taught the umpires the same. He loved to give back to his teams and his community..When the Mountain Top league ended in June he said to me “ Hey Ton” what are these kids going to do all summer. Why don’t we have a clinic and invite the whole town so he called the Rec director from the town snd reserved the field at Roosevelt school and we were there almost every night. We will miss you “Pipes” rest in peace.Murial,Brian and Christine and family we are so sorry for your loss . Nick was my assistant baseball coach at Our Lady of the Valley high school. He pushed to have me suit up for Varsity when I was a freshman and suggested that I convert from outfielder to catcher before the start of my junior year in 1973. We went on to win the GNT Tournament that year and our team was named the #1 High School Baseball Team in New Jersey. His recommendation is legendary. I went on to be a four year starting catcher at NJIT, and was named All-Conference, All-State, All-NCAA Region, Honorable Mention All-American and eventually elected into the a NJIT Hall of Fame. If it were not for Nick Bowness and his faith in me, none of what I have shared above would have happened. Talk about a game changer!
Forever grateful.

Nick will be missed! He was a dear friend to my family, and filled so many roles. He threw hours of bp to me and Brian, while my dad yelled at us both! Nick took us to so many ballparks, which was always an adventure! (Pre-GPS days) He helped me with summer jobs at ABD while I was in school. He was always good for a story and a crazy voice mail. Nick, with Brian, helped to boost my son’s confidence with one simple sentence; “Jimmy, he’s a late bloomer!” My son then went on to have an outstanding senior season and had the courage to walk on and play in college. Nick will truly be missed.

Nick touched the lives of many people. No matter where you go with him you would always run into someone who knows the coach. He was one of my closest friends and I will forever cherish the daily phone calls and Saturday morning antics. Rest in piece my friend, love John Amendola.

He was a friend that was always there for you. He was the reason my sons went to Seton Hall Prep.
