Connie and I met when we were 11 years old. The year was 1951 when my family, the Ragan's moved to Bloomsbury. We were in the same grade and became best friends. I remember riding our bikes all over Bloomsbury, riding horses and playing Canasta with Eardie Hoffman, Jeannie Krauldat and my sister Carol Ann (they are all greeting Connie having left before her). Connie and I were candy stripers together and we both wanted to be nurses. Connie followed her dream and I went another way but we remained friends all of our lives. My daughter was named Constance to honor our friendship. When my daughter passed away, at the age of four, Connie was devastated and in fact never got over it. She placed flowers and grave blankets on Connie Lynn's grave every year. Even in death Connie and Connie Lynn's final resting places will be within a few feet of each other.
I live in Florida now and yet we remained friends, talking on the phone and visiting when I would come north. We last got together in 2018 at the Warrenside Tavern and were joined by Jane Stopp. We had a great reunion, calling ourselves the Bloomsbury girls. Someday we'll all be together again, but till then my love for Connie will remain.
