Obituary of Mary T. Yorke

Please share a memory of Mary to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Mary T Yorke

Mary was born and raised in Newark NJ, moving to Woodbridge 30 years ago.  She is the oldest daughter born to the late Patrick and Anna May Yorke.  Loving sister to Margaret Cirone (Joe), Patrick (Colleen),

Frank (Nancy), Anna may Farinick (Tom), Susan (Andrew Baird and the late Michael, Patricia and Kathleen Yorke. Godmother and Aunt to Kelliann Cirone and Monica Cicak (Carlucci), Erin, Bridget, Patrick Yorke, Robert Farinick, Catherine (Casey) and Shealyn Yorke.

Mary worked in the civil processing division of the Essex County Sheriff’s Office under then Sheriff John F. Cryan,

She transferred to the Essex County Public works where she became the payroll supervisor and remained there until her retirement on 2011.

Mary was proud of her Irish heritage and played the Irish button accordion and sang in the Glee club in High school with her lifelong friend Gail Carlucci (Heis).

Mary was an avid Horticulturist (she was always growing something in the back yard), Knitter and crocheter and had the patience of a saint.  She loved cooking and entertaining. Birthday dinners were exemplary with her signature side dish of Hot Cabbage!

Mary never forgot a birthday or holiday, there was always a card showing up even for Arbor Day, and they always contained scratch off tickets.  She excelled in wrapping Christmas presents.  They were meticulously wrapped and a piece of your favorite candy would always be attached.  Mary tried to pass on her wrapping skills to her nieces and nephews, however, her enthusiasm for wrapping didn’t catch on.

Mary’s true Passion however, was watching all the Indiana Jones movies and her favorite of all time was the series and movies of Star Trek.

Mary will be truly missed by all of us, but her spirit and memory will live forever.
