Obituary of Gladys Marie Strauch

Gladys Marie Strauch, 86, of Mt. Arlington, NJ, passed away August 3, 2021.  She was born on August 4, 1934, in Orange, NJ.  The middle child of Raymond C. Writt and Agnes C. Mason, she grew up in Livingston and Orange, NJ with 8 siblings, Alice Brennan, Agnes (Peanut) Eager, Francis Donohue, Walter Writt, Elizabeth (Betty) Writt, Jane Berry, Kathryn Colatrella and James Writt.  She is predeceased by her ex-husband Peter J. Strauch, whom she married on June 23, 1956, at St. John’s Church, Orange, NJ.  They are survived by three children, Peter James Jr (Gretchen Gaudreau); Patti Jane (Donald Mittermaier) and Paula Joann (Marc Cericola) and five grandchildren, Shannon Strauch, Sean Strauch, Andrea Mittermaier, Lauren Mittermaier and Michael Cericola.   

She worked as a secretary for the West Orange Board of Education for many years and volunteered with the PTA before retiring to help take care of her grandchildren. 

Friends are invited to celebrate her life from 4:00-8:00 pm, Monday, August 9, 2021, at Dangler Funeral Home, 340 Main Street, West Orange, NJ.   A funeral service will be held at 10:00 am, Tuesday, August 10, 2021, at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 1 Eagle Rock Avenue, West Orange, NJ with the interment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover, NJ
