Obituary of George Edward O'Connor

George Edward O'Connor, Sr., 84 George Edward O'Connor, Sr., 84, of West Orange passed away at Mountainside Hospital in Glen Ridge on Saturday April 5, 2014.Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday April 9, 2014 at The Dangler Funeral Home of West Orange, 340 Main Street, West Orange at 9:00 AM then to Saint Joseph's Roman Catholic Church Benvenue Ave for the Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery 225 Ridgedale Avenue in East Hanover. Visiting will be Tuesday 3-7 PM. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in George's name to the American Lung Association,1031 US 22 , Bridgewater, NJ 08807. George was born and raised in Orange raising his family in West Orange before retiring in Toms River. George was a bus driver working for DeCamp Bus Company for many years. He then worked for the Operating Engineers Local 68. George proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War, where he was awarded the Korean Service Medal with one Bronze Service Star and the United Nations Service Medal. George was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Valley Church and more recently a daily Communicant of Saint John's Church in Lakewood. George was the beloved husband of the late Jane (nee O'Toole) O'Connor. Devoted father of George Jr., Peggy O'Connor, Paul and his wife Suzanne, and Michael and his wife Janine. Grandfather to Ethan, Hailey, Paige, Trinity, Hope, and Eden.
