Obituary of Matthew Herman Patuto

Matthew H. Patuto Sr. 98 Matthew H. Patuto Sr., 98, of West Orange passed away at home on Thursday April 3, 2014 surrounded by his loving family. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, April 7, 2014 at The Dangler Funeral Home of West Orange, 340 Main Street, West Orange at 10:00 AM. Entombment will follow at Gate of Heaven Mausoleum 225 Ridgedale Avenue in East Hanover. Visiting will be Sunday 3-7 PM. In lieu of flowers Memorials may be made in Matthew's name to the West Orange Animal Welfare League P.O. Box 232 West Orange, NJ 07052. Matthew was born and raised in Orange moving to West Orange in 1946. Matt was a Postal Carrier retiring as an Assistant Postmaster with the United States Postal Service in South Orange for 42 years. Prior to his postal service he proudly served his country as a sergeant in the United States Army during WWII. After the War he attended and graduated from Seton Hall University with a degree in Accounting. Matthew was a member of the National Association of Postal Supervisors, serving two terms as president, the Mr.& Mrs. Club of Our Lady of Lourdes and a volunteer at Our Lady of Lourdes Bingo, The Old Guard in Caldwell, as well as an avid golfer and was an election day worker. Matthew was the beloved husband of the late Josephine (nee DiGaetano). Devoted father of Teresa Sousa and her husband John, Matthew Jr. and his wife Adelyn. Loving brother of Pat Patuto, and the late Anthony Patuto, Mildred Cassidy, and Josephine Patuto. Brother in law to Nancy DiGaetano, Roxie DiGaetano and Larry DiGaetano. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
