Thomas "Ray" Dowd, 83 - Thomas "Ray" Dowd of Wall Township and West Orange, passed away peacefully on March 13, 2010 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday March 18, 2010 at The Dangler Funeral Home of West Orange 340 Main Street at 8:30 AM then to Our Lady of Lourdes Church for the Funeral Mass at 9:30 AM. Interment will follow at Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Montclair. Visiting will be Wednesday 4-8 PM. Letters of condolence may be posted at danglerfuneralhome.com. Mr. Dowd was born in Tibohine, County Roscommon, Ireland. He came to the USA in 1947 and served in the Unites Stated Army from 1950-1952. A combat veteran of the Korean War, he was the recipient of a Korean Service Medal with 1 Bronze Star and a United Nations Service Medal. He was a member of Local 68 Engineers for 55 years. A livelong supporter of the Roscommon Society of New York and member of the Giblin and Cryan Associations, his heart never left Ireland. A loving husband and father, he is survived by his loving wife of 56 years Kathleen (nee Bradley) and 6 children. His sons Michael, Eugene and his wife Dawn, John and his wife Antonella. His daughters, Mary and her husband Bill, Rita and her husband Nial, Adrienne and her husband Michael. Cherished grandchildren, Danny, Mike, Katie, Brendan, Melissa, Nicholas, Colleen and Ashley. His sister Noreen Clarke, brothers Frank, Lawrence, and Joe. Mr. Dowd is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by sisters Madeline Gilligan, Peggy Dowd, and son-in-law Jesse Katz.
