Obituary of Mary Anne Byer

Mary Byer, 62

Mary Byer, (nee Bunkle), passed away peacefully at the age of 62 on Wednesday May 30, 2018.  Mary passed at home surrounded by her loving family.

Mary was born in Jersey City, and raised in Verona before moving to West Orange 28 years ago.  A registered nurse, she worked since 2005 as a Case Manager at Kessler Rehabilitation Hospital in West Orange. She was recognized by Kessler in 2008 when she was given their annual President’s Award. She volunteered at the Susan G Komen North Jersey Affiliate, and with the West Orange Mountain Top Soccer League. Mary was a member of the Ladies Association of Llewellyn Park.

Mary was the beloved wife of 35 years to Peter Byer. Devoted mother of Kerrie Byer and her husband Brian Wren, Matthew Byer and his wife Mary Catherine, Timothy Byer, and Molly Byer. Loving daughter of Jack and Teresa Bunkle and sister of Barbara Bunkle, Julie Hornlein, and Carolyn Hanczark. Mary is also survived by many nieces, nephews, in-laws, and Hennessey and Degnan cousins.

Visiting will be held on Sunday June 3, 2018 2:00 to 6:00 PM at The Dangler Funeral Home of West Orange, 340 Main Street in West Orange.

A Funeral Mass will be offered on Monday June 4, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 1 Eagle Rock Ave., West Orange, NJ 07052. Cremation will be private.
