Robert “Mac” McHenry, 86

Robert “Mac” McHenry, 86, of West Orange passed away on Monday February 26, 2018 surrounded by his loving family at his home.

Visiting will be held on Wednesday February 28, 2018 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at The Dangler Funeral Home of West Orange, 340 Main Street.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Macs name to; St. Jude Tribute Program, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 14, Memphis, TN 38148-0142.

A Funeral Mass will be offered on Thursday March 1, 2018 at 9:45 AM at Saint Rose of Lima Roman Catholic Church, 312  Ridgedale Avenue ,East Hanover, NJ.07936.  Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 225 Ridgedale  Avenue, East Hanover, NJ 07936.  

Mac was born and was a lifelong resident of West Orange. He was a proud member of the United States Navy serving during the Korean Conflict. He retired from the West Orange Police Department serving as a Detective in the Juvenile Aid Department after 25 years of service. After retirement Mac was a ranger at Francis Byrne Golf Club for 15 years. Mac was a member of the Quarry Hunting Club and was an avid fisherman as well as a hunter. One of his passions was playing golf. He won the retired seniors Golf Championship twice. He also played golf with Joe Namath. He was inducted into the West Orange Hall of Fame and was a member of the 1949 State Basketball Championship Team.

Mac was the beloved husband of 59 years to Gerry “Fahey” McHenry.  Devoted father of Robin Smith and her husband Thomas, Robert W. McHenry, Patricia Clucas and her husband Scott, and the late Tracy, Jamie, and Geralyn.  Cherished grandfather of Jackie and Michael Capodanno, Ryan and Christopher Smith, Freddy and Cady Clucas.  Loving great-grandfather of Kaylee and Mikey.
